Cancer survivor, fearless leader, and MŪZ resident tea expert. Together, let's strive to build healthy habits, embrace a lifestyle of wellness and positivity, and nourish both our bodies and souls with the ancient tradition of teas.

Hi, I'm Raquel

Once a little-known condition, candida overgrowth has become a buzzword in wellness circles.  Candida is a type of yeast that naturally resides in our bodies, typically found in the digestive tract. In small quantities, it’s harmless and even helps with digestion. However, when there is an overgrowth of candida, it can lead to a range of symptoms and health issues.

At MŪZ Teas, we are constantly looking towards the healing properties of the earth to help nurture both body and spirit. In fact, our very own Nile Delta Camomile—our blend of this age-old herbal remedy – may be exactly the thing to help if you’re struggling with candida issues.

Understanding Candida

Candida overgrowth, also known as candidiasis, occurs when the balance of bacteria in our bodies is disrupted. This can happen due to a variety of reasons such as frequent use of antibiotics, a weakened immune system, or a diet high in sugar and refined carbohydrates. When this happens, candida can multiply and spread throughout the body leading to various symptoms.

Common symptoms associated with candida overgrowth include fatigue, brain fog, digestive issues, skin problems, and so many more issues. These symptoms can be frustrating and impact our daily lives, leading to a decreased quality of life.

While there are entire diet and lifestyle overhauls geared towards combatting candida, we’re here to explore whether our old sandby can do the trick – a healthy and active lifestyle, combined with high quality tea.

Benefits of Chamomile Tea

Enter chamomile tea, a natural remedy that has an incredible range of benefits. While a commonly known benefit of chamomile tea is that it can help soothe inflammation, the lesser know impact is that it also has been tested and shown to be antifungal. It’s common knowledge that chamomile tea can be used as a natural fungicide to prevent fungal diseases in house plants, and can also be used to treat other diseases such as white mold and powdery mildew. With that being the case, it’s easy to see how it’s a close leap to functioning in a similar capacity within other living beings – including humans!

In fact, a natural peptide produced in the chamomile plant has proven to have  broad-spectrum antifungal activity against human pathogenic moulds and yeasts (read more here, if you’re interested!), and has been shown to help kill candida.

How to Incorporate Chamomile Tea into a Candida-Friendly Diet

As with all things, balance is essential when trying to overcome a candida infection. Just like everything in the world of MŪZ, we recommend pairing high quality teas with a healthy and active lifestyle. Starting your day off by sipping a cup of chamomile before your morning walk is a great way to start, as is ending your day with a nice piping cup of the tea. In addition to incorporating a few bags of delicious chamomile tea into your day, consider cutting down on sweets and starches, and instead embracing leafy greens and fresh vegetables.

As always, life is about balance – but if you’re able to add heathy habits into your daily routine, that balance gets a little bit easier. If nothing else, hopefully this encourages you to enjoy a cup of our  Nile Delta Camomile, and enjoy the vast benefits of this incredible little flower.

Your well-being is our canvas, your vitality our muse.
