I have always been up for a challenge.
Whether it’s early morning runs, creating a luxury tea company, or beating stage 4 clear cell renal cell carcinoma, I have learned to embrace every moment.
The Diagnosis
Getting diagnosed with cancer changed my life in more ways than I could have imagined.
My diagnosis came in 2012, two years after my mother’s passing.
After living through such a tragic death, I knew I had to do everything within my power to live. Fighting for your life is not only the most important battle you’ll ever face, it’s also never-ending.
Doctors immediately removed my kidney, where the cancer began. Unfortunately, after the operation, we learned that the cancer had metastasized to both of my lungs.
My oncologist, Dr. Jaime Merchan, granted me the opportunity to try targeted immunotherapy through a clinical trial. Due to the groundbreaking treatment and technology, I only experienced minor side effects. The treatment started working and I was able to not only hope for life but embrace it fully.
In 2021, Dr. Merchan and I ran the DCC 5K together. When we rang the bell at the finish line, I wasn’t only celebrating my victory in the race, but also in life.
I am so thankful for everything and everyone who helped me through my cancer journey. Modern medicine and the technological advances that DCC has created made it possible for me to beat the diagnosis.
Just because I am cancer-free doesn’t mean I’m done fighting. I undergo routine chemotherapy treatments roughly once a month.
Cancer changed my life completely. While I wish it hadn’t been under these circumstances, I am glad for the radical and revolutionary benefits my heart, mind, body, and soul have reaped from my journey to overcome cancer.
Today, I continue to take my health journey extremely seriously, which is why I turned to tea.
The Dream
I knew that just because I beat my diagnosis once didn’t ensure that I would be healthy forever. That’s when MŪZ came along.
MŪZ is truly the perfect blend of personal and practical for me. The company is short for Muñiz, my family’s name. My mother and father were both the embodiment of strength and positivity, which is what I hope our tea blends offer to everyone who tries them.
Nearly everyone knows that tea is good for the body and mind, but there aren’t too many people who know the extent of benefits that tea provides.
As my body began to fight cancer, I supplied it with a powerhouse of herbs, flowers, fruit, and other ingredients that fought the disease one sip at a time.
The mixtures I created fought cancer alongside me. It woke me up in the morning, eased my pain throughout the day, and worked to eliminate toxins and cancer throughout my body.
The powerful blends paired with Dr. Merchan’s work allowed me not only to just beat my diagnosis, but embrace all that life has to offer.
The tea we sell as MŪZ is intrinsically linked to my healing and recovery journey. Some blends help calm my mind when anxieties persist, others allow my body to heal and my aches to cease, and others are for women who handle pain like champions every single month.
As you scroll through the website, you’ll see my notes on all of the teas. That’s not because I’m trying to sell you anything or push a product. It’s because these teas saw me through one of the roughest times in my life and my vision and goal is for them to help others fight their battles.
A Final Note
I know my battle with cancer ended in a way that many battles do not. And while I am thankful I won this fight every single day, the overall battle with cancer worldwide is not nearly over.
My life has become a testimony to how modern and holistic medicine can and should combine seamlessly and I hope to inspire and empower others on this journey.
My overall mission in life isn’t to sell tea, or even advocate for cancer survival. It is to connect with people and encourage a holistic and positive outlook on life.
Seize every day, live every second, and take care of your body. You never know when a diagnosis can come, but instead of living in fear, live in light.
xo,
Raquel
